    Unanswered: Form and a Subform... question

    I have a Table with a list of names Owners (Name ("Bob", "Ed", "Joe", Address ("This Town", etc..), City(... etc..) standard layout nothing major)
    I have a second table with Partnership information. (Partnership_Name ("HappyTime", "The Place"), Location ("this town", "here" etc...), and other information.)

    A Partnership can be owned by a number of people in the Owners Table

    Partnership_Name = "Happy Time" is owned by Owner_Name = "Bob", "Ed", "Joe" Each Owner has a % of the Partnership (Bob = 10%, Ed = 40%, Joe = 50% .. NOTE: Does not need to equal 100% as some owners are not part of the group)

    I want to creat a form which will have the following ..

    Partnership Name, location, etc..
    also subform where I enter the names (choosen from a drop down list) of each of the Owners and enter their %)

    I know how to create a form if the Partnership already exist, but if it is
    a new partnership how do I open the Form and the Subform in the Add mode
    and they both are sysnc together after I add the new Partnership and select the Owners (Can be from 1 to x) and save the information ..

    a simple form is Partnership_Name and a Dropdown box with list of Owners.
    but that gives me only a 1 to 1 type of Partnership. I need a 1 (Partnership) to Many (Owners)

    I could revers the way I look at it .. Owners (1) to Partnerships(Many from a Dropdown list) and if the Partnership is not on the list add it but that would get to be a lot of work (I think) .. I guess its like a Pick-List .. Partnership now pick the Owners (1 to many) and save the information.

    so am I off the deep end or not seeing the trees for the big hippo in the way ..

    How are you storing the Partnership - Owner(s) relationships?

    Owners are in a Table = Tbl_Owners
    Fields = Name ("Bob", "Ed", "Joe", ) TEXT
    Address ("This Town", etc..),
    City(... etc.
    Partnership_ID (This is from Tbl_Partnerships)

    Partnerships are in a Table = Tbl_Partnerships
    Fields =PartnershipID -- AutoNumber
    Partnership_Name ("HappyTime", "The Place"), Text
    Location ("this town", "here" etc...), Text
    Percentage ("10.00 % ..) Number
    etc ...and other information

    so it would be a 1 (Tbl_Partnerships) to Many (Tbl_Owners)

    Thanks for your help.

    sorry I miss spoke (typed) something in the last reply
    I have a 3rd table sorry ...

    Owners are in a Table = Tbl_Owners
    Fields = OwnerID - Autonumber
    Name ("Bob", "Ed", "Joe", ) TEXT
    Address ("This Town", etc..),
    City(... etc.

    Partnerships are in a Table = Tbl_Partnerships
    Fields =PartnershipID -- AutoNumber
    Partnership_Name ("HappyTime", "The Place"), Text
    Location ("this town", "here" etc...), Text
    etc ...and other information

    Tbl_Partnership_and_Owners
    OwnerID - From Tbl_Owner
    PartnershipID - From Tbl_Partnership
    Percentage ("10.00 % ..) Number

    there we go so in the 3rd table would be
    "Tom" "Laughing Time" "10%"
    "Ed" "Laughing Time" "10%"
    etc.

    so in the form I want
    to create a new Partnership ("New Partners at Large") and
    pick the Owners "Ed", "Tom", "Fred" and indicate what
    percentage they have.

    sorry again for the confusion.

    Main form based on Tbl_Partnerships
    (or even better, a query based on the Tbl_Partnerships).

    Subform based on Tbl_Partnership_and_Owners.

    Link the forms on Partnership ID and use Tbl_Owners as the source for a combobox.
