    Unanswered: sp_xml_preparedocument

We are thinking about using this sproc because one of our .NET app's is basically handling an array of data. The .NET guys want to give me 1 input parameter (i.e. XML) and then I would use the sproc to parse it and store the base data in columns.

Anyone witth experience with this or any comments would be appreciated

The physical order of data in a database has no meaning.

Nobody has any experience with this?

    I have concerns with

    Memory managment
Malformed XML had to "know" that it's bad
Giving up "control" to a black box (this is M$ after all)
    Performance

In any case we are plowing forward...all of the .NET suff looks like Excel...I guess passing one parameter is better than a hundred db calls

I wonder if this stuff works with text datatypes...even if it did, I would probably still have to grab it in chunks
