    Unanswered: SQL Server 2005 Install

    Hi All,

I have installed all components for SQL Server 2005 except for the WorkStation Options component. When I went back and tried to install this component only, I got an error.

There was an unexpected failure during the setup wizard. You may review the setup logs and/or click the help button for more information.

Does anybody know how I can install this component without any errors?

    Thanks.

well did you look at the setup log to see what the error was?
“If one brings so much courage to this world the world has to kill them or break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.” Earnest Hemingway, A Farewell To Arms.

Could you give me an exact log name? There are bunch of SQLSetup_0013 logs.

I still work in a sql2k environment, but luckily I have SQL 2K5 installed here at home. I opened up books online and did a search for setup log and this is what I found...
    Code:
Logging for Microsoft SQL Server Setup has changed in this release. The main log you should look at is located in

    %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Summary.txt
Now you have to find the error in that log and open up a web browser and go to google and paste that error in the search box. Here is a hint. The google groups results are often more helpful.
