    Unanswered: SHA1 in DB2

    Hi,

Iam trying to call the SHA1 function from a stored procedure. This is done to obfuscate the data in a column mentioned in the parameter.

Kindly let me know if there are any builtin function SHA1 and how to call it from stored procedure.

    Thanks,

You could use the ENCRYPT function for such purposes: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...c/r0004211.htm

It is not using SHA1 as encryption algorithm, but SHA-1 is considered as a weak encryption anyways: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sha1

    Sha1 function in DB2

    Hi,

Thanks for the response. But the requirement is not to encrypt but to obfuscate the data in the database using SHA1 and hence am trying to find a user defined function in DB2 so that i can use it in the stored procedure

    Thanks,
