Unanswered: Round-robin in DB2 parallel edition.

    Hello,

I want to create a partitioned table where tuples are distributed across the nodes in a round robin fashion instead of using system hash function. Is there a way to specify this ?

    I am using "DB2 v8.1.2.128", "s061108", "MI00176", and FixPak "14".

    Thanks,
    Parag

What, in your opinion, would be the difference? In other words, what kind of "robin" does the system hash function implement, if not "round"?

You can update the hash table manually. I am not sure what you exactly trying to do, but you might need to add a new column to the table and make it the partitioning key to get the results you want.

BTW, the default method is not really round-robin, but more of random system that determines where the data gets inserted.
