Unanswered: MDA vs. Historical Server / Monitor Server

What are the pros and cons for... MDA vs. Historical Server / Monitor Server?

    - For example, Sybase Central has a plug-in for Historical Server / Monitor Server that allows you to view the output via charts and graphs. Does MDA have such support?

    Thank you

I dont think MDA as such have a graphical representation. But there are tools in the market that use MDA tables.

MDA vs. Historical Server / Monitor Server

Should I be using both MDA and Historical Server / Monitor Server?

Or should I be using one over the other?

    Sybase DBA Suite

Thank you for your response, you mentioned the following...

"I dont think MDA as such have a graphical representation. But there are tools in the market that use MDA tables."

What is the best tool provider on the market?

Do you have any monitoring / reporting / forecasting tools that you recommend?

What do you think about White Sands Proactive DBA?

    Thank you.

    Hi,
Monitor server is good in that it can give graphical representation of your server performance, but in my experience i HAVE seen it show/give wrong information. MDA is more reliable, you need to spend some time to get to know how to use it, but is much more powerful and useful. Go to www.sypron.nl there are some useful powerpoint presentations there which might be of help.
