A tablespace is made up of one or more dbf file. You do not split a dbf file, you make multiple dbf file that are restricted to a maximum size onto whatever volumns or physical drives you want to. The drives must be available to the database server at ALL times.

You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

You are right, I explained myself badly.

How do you make multiple dbf files?

    Thanks in advance

Alter Tablespace <name_here> Add Datafile ........
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
