    Unanswered: SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed

    hi All,

Im using Oragle 10g client and have set up an ODBC driver to access my DB which is on another site. However when i set this i get the following error.

    Unable to Connect
    SQLSTATE-IM004
    [Microsoft][ODBCDriverManager]Drivers SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed

Ive checked the permissions on ODBC in the registry and i have full access.

    Any ideas?

What you posted is NOT an Oracle error.
You have a Windoze problem, IMO.
Can any other client s/w connect to this Oracle DB?

It appears your are incapabale or unwilling to use GOOGLE.

FYI i have googled this and tried all the things, however nothing has worked. This is not a server but only on my machine. I have Admin rights and ive only encountered this problem since installing oracle 10.1 client and ODBC.

    - Ive checked the permissions in the regisrtry
Ive checked the permissions of the oracle folders

    Please help

This only started after installing the Oracle ODBC? Or only after installing the Oracle 10g client? In which case what were you using before? Is everything under the correct Oracle Home directory, or do you have several of those, now?

After installing 10g Client - I had 9 previously. Everything is in the oracle directory but then have seperate folders (9.2 and 10.1). Ive checked the registry and made sure the oracle home bit is pointing to 10g folders.

Anacedent - Not sure if you read my post but ive already tried your link and it doesnt help.

    Create global objects

You may need to also go into the Local Security Policy under adminstrator tools and give users the ability to Create Global Objects.
