    Unanswered: MDE file

I am going to create MDE file. As default, the access create database with Access 2000. I tried to create MDE file, it didn't work. After i convert the database front end to Access 2002. It works, Is that means only Access 2002 can create MDE. What about the backend database. Do i have to convert to Access 2002? I see it works for Access 2000 as back end but Access2002 as front end. If i didn't convert to Access 2000 for backend database, is it OK or not? Thanks for your help.

If the database format is in 2000, you need to open it with MSAccess 2000 to create an mde file or convert it to 2002 if opening it with MSAccess 2002. You cannot open a 2000 format mdb with 2002 and create an mde.

Unless you want to convert the backend to a 2002 format, there isn't a need if you're not creating an mde file on the backend. (ie. leave it in the 2000 format.)

Thanks a lot. I got it.
