    Unanswered: Problem in Oracle Installation

    Hello friends, Yesterday I have a humiliating night installing Oracle 9 i to my newly purchased PC. Surprising to my intellect,Installation was going nicely without even a single error message, but after installation when I am trying to login into the system used default user name as scott and password as tiger, Message"Could not connect to the oracle database" pops up. So, what's all of you think is causing it?

    Account might be locked.

    Connect to SQL*Plus as a privileged user (SYS, for example; its password is - unless you have changed it - CHANGE_ON_INSTALL. Another combination is SYSTEM/MANAGER) and unlock Scott's account issuing
    Code:
    SQL> ALTER USER scott ACCOUNT UNLOCK;
    BTW, why did you install an old version? Is there any reason for you not to install Oracle 10g instead, for example? Express Edition?

    [EDIT] Live chatting (with a colleague) made this post obsolete; Ladwig did it in time. Sorry.
