Unanswered: segment mappings - dropping default & system refs

Been doing this for 10+ years, but have hit a stumbling block on something I haven't done for a while and have fogotten the best way to set this up. i want no default, system references on the data and index segments.

When using sp_dropsegment to remove system and default references from segment mappings, the last segment extend is still asocoated with default/system .. the ref cannot be dropped as it is the last one. What is the best way to set these up?

    1> exec sp_dropsegment 'system','icanprod','vol_icanprod_idx2'
    2> go
    Msg 17524, Level 16, State 1:
Server 'reconxprod', Procedure 'sp_dropsegment', Line 324:
There is only one device mapping for the segment 'system' -- use sp_dropsegment with no device argument.
    (return status = 1)
