    Unanswered: About Saft file generation

    Hello to everybody.
I´m living in Portugal actually and there is a law that force all the POS programs to have a special export file called SAFT wich means :
"Standard Audit File for Tax Purposes"
i think that the structure is in xml.
I made a program for my little restaurant in MsAccess and from now i can´t use it anymore because of that file.
I will be forced to buy a "official" program compatible with the Saft file and this will cause big costs for me.
I wonder if anybody could help me to find out how i could make a Saft file for exporting data for the IRS.
I attach a sample wich i found somewhere.
    Best regards to all.

like all XML it looks horrific, but its actually quite simple

The first thing to do is to get your data together in queries

then you can either write it to a file or write it to a report.
heck you could do a lot of the XML formatting using a query if you wante to.

Writing to a file is realtively straightforward, writing XML is straightforward if you know the DTD, and make sure you copy all the stuff in <>'s

so first off Id try to get your data marshalled together.. that may require severall queries

then have a look at how to write to text files
    good luck

its an export of your data
theres several data types rolled up into one file
theres the normal XML top and tail identifyign the XML schema
theres a header indentifying the company generating the tax return
theres what looks to be a masterfiles section idnetfying the ledger / accounts system
then theres repeating blocks in the general ledger entries identifying individual transactions.

some that is accountant speak, most of that is a dump of your accounting data.
most of it is documented on the web "OECD standard audit file" gives lots of references
