    Unanswered: XML Insert Help

    Hi all,

I have an XML file and I would like to insert its data into my DB. Simple.

I was told to look into dbms_xmlsave.insertxml function to do this, but what I just cant seem to find any help on is the mapping between the XML file to my tables.

The XML is in a relational format, so I would like the data to be stored that way too.

How can this be done, an example of the XML is as follows:

      <Sender>Paul Mac</Sender>
I just need to know how to get the data into the tables now, i.e.
Relational Mapping of the XML to the tables

    Thanks heaps!!!

does this provide enough of a clue for you?
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.

For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.

    Hi Anacedent,
Thanks for the link, and you are right, that looks like it would be a suitable answer. But I just have a few questions regarding the technique.
    1) Can you insert a file into a clob using just PL/SQL instead of Java.I have no issue writing Java if I have to, I just want to try to avoid it if I can.

    2) What if the XML doesnt follow the format of

Because I cannot control the format of the XML, but I can control the structure of the table, I know that it will not have ROWSET and ROW elements to it.
