    Unanswered: can't connect to mysql

From the Unix command line, the following is displayed:

    ******************

ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

Do you know why? It worked find last week.

    Thanks,

    BV

    Seems fairly obvious :
Could not open required defaults file: /u01/app/myqsl/mysql5044/my.cnf
What is in your my.cnf? Usually this resides in the /etc directory but i guess you're using your own one for a special config. Copy it into here and i'll see what we can do for you.
