    Unanswered: timezone

Is there a generic solution in oracle/db2 to display the customer's timezone and actual time for the agent?

As a starting point, we seem to have a database table attribute which is of type string and plan to hold the timezone names/abbreviations. The rest to be handled through code. Now the issue is that how to account for timezone offset? How to handle DST?

I saw several posts/sites and none of them seem to concur on the list of available timezones.. Any help is greatly appreciated.

See the following link for a nice little writeup on timestamp with time zone info.

thanks.. but already went through this writeup before. Unfortunately, we are not planning this to be a database solution since we don't want to store the calculated timezone value in the database.
