Hello everyone. I am new to this forum - only as a poster, of course I have been reading this boards for years - and now it seems that no one had this problem before, so I need to be the first one to ask.

I am configuring an Oracle 10g instance on my HP-UX server and, after struggling a lot with little issues that I brought down one by one, there is one that I couldn't do anything.

I managed to create and configure the Enterprise Manager all right (with "emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create"), looking at the creation logs, everything seems to be OK, except for the final step: starting the DBConsole itself. It just stops at this and nothing comes after.

Looking at the SYSMAN logs ($ORACLE_HOME/$HOST_$ORACLE_SID/sysman/log), there is a lot of connection errors:

Do I need to allow access through the port 3938 (adding an entry to /etc/services)? If that's it, why? What kind of service is this? There is the listener, there is the port to do the web access (5500), why is this other port used?

If the problem is not the port, does anyone have a clue of what could be the issue here? Maybe something with the timezone (as per message in the above log)... any light shed would be appreciated.

Thank you very much.
