Unanswered: tell if cell is in error:#N/A

i have a vlookup that returns #N/A in some cells, i would like to make those values = the cell above the cell in error, how can i do this?

Say that your formula is in cell D3

    =IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(References)),D2,VLOOKUP(Refere nces))

    =IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(References)),D2,VLOOKUP(Reference s))

ISERROR covers more errors than ISNA.
    old, slow, and confused
    but at least I'm inconsistent!
