Question Help Req Plz Normalization Process 1st, 2nd, 3rd

Hi im new to databases, well the normalisation process anyway.

I have a simple database to normalise and it consists of the following un-normalised data. I could do with someone to help me normailse this data into 1st 2nd and 3rd normal form and show me the process of going about this.

I am a noob at this so kindly make it as simple as possible.

    Data:
    -------------------------
    ----(Hire Agreement)-----
    Customer Name
    Customer Address
    Postcode
    Telephone Number
    Driving Licence Number
    Car Registration Number
    Make of Car
    Model of Car
    First Day of Hire
    Last Day of Hire
    Mileage in
    Mileage out
    Class of Car, i.e. A B C D
    Daily Rate
    Number of days hired
    Total Hire Cost
    Credit Card Number
    Expiry Date
    -------------------------

I would like any help in normalising this data into 1st, 2nd and 3rd normal form if possible.

Any help here would be appreciated.

Also any helpfull links you may have to aid in this would also be appreciated.

doubt it.. best for you to make an effort and proceed form there. the only way of learning normalisation is to actually go out and do it....

I doubt many DBA's or DB designers actually go through the normalisation process, their experience and knowledge normally takes them to 3NF without blinking.

Well - you are allowed a blink or two to start with.

Pop the thing into first normal form, post here and people will help you along. This screams out homework and I am afraid (or perhaps I am not) that you will find you will have to put in the effort yourself and, if you are lucky, get some guidance from one or more of the professionals here.
