    Unanswered: Temp table in memory

I just need some clarification on using temporary tables. When I create a table, 2 columns and insert 1million records in it, is the temp table I created #STUFF in memory or in the tempdb?

    Thanks

    Both

But given your question I suspect the answer you really want is tempdb. Check BoL for more details.

    Lol - that isn't what I meant.

As much of the temp table will be in memory as is possible\ efficient. It has to go into memory in the first place so it really is a question of whether or not your system will have to flush the pages from the cache to free up memory space.

How about you expand your question a bit and let us know what your senario is, what you are looking to achieve etc.
