    Unanswered: Management Studio

    Hi

I am moving towards managing sqlserver databases and i basically come from a command line background.

Can you please tell me some of the tasks that needs to be done using command line only in sqlserver and wherein management studio falls short.

    regards

I can't think of anything you can do with the command line that cannot be done through the GUI, except calling some of the support applications (BCP, OSQL,....).
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.

The only one that has come up around here of late is rebuilding the master database, but that is (hopefully) a rare occurance.

I don't know about command line, but I wouldn't configure Replication for anything but the simplest of databases using anything but scripts.

Way, way too much clicking and other stuff to set non-default options.
