    Unanswered: Archive Log Removal

I'm trying to set automatic removal of Archive logs older than 14 days.

In RMAN, i set retention policy to a window of 14 days, which marks anything older than 14 days as expired.

However logs from even 2 months before still remain available and arent marked as expired.

    any suggestions?

Your response would be useful if ericjhin were running Unix, but I am willing to bet you & give you odds that OP is running Windoze.

Look at view DBA_REGISTERED_ARCHIVED_LOG and look at column PURGEABLE. The archlog won't be nuked unless purgeable=yes.

If you are using any logminer technologies like dataguard or streams then archlogs won't be nuked until the first_scn and min_required_checkpiont_scn are advanced beyond the next_scn-1 of the archlog in question.
