    Unanswered: Devices for database

    Hi,
    I have one production database.
    device seg alloc
    sybase1 data 1000MB
    sybase2 data 1000 MB
    sybase3 data 1200 MB
    sybase4 log 500 MB

Now i want to create a db on DEV server
    can i do like this?

    device seg alloc
    sybase1 data 3200 MB
    sybase2 log 500 MB

What is the effect if i create like above?
i dont have partitined tables or user segments created on PROD server.

Will be fine if that was the order in which it was created

    What is the output from:
    select * from sysusages
    where dbid=<your_prod_dbid>
    order by lstart

    if e.g.
    sybase1 data 1000MB
    sybase4 log 500 MB
    sybase2 data 1000 MB
    sybase3 data 1200 MB

Then you should create it like this:
    sybase1 data 1000 MB
    sybase2 log 500 MB
    sybase1 data 2200 MB

You mean to say the order should follow sysusages..lstart seq.

Yes, else you might end with data on log device or log on data device.
