    Unanswered: Sybase server shutdown abruptly

    Hi all,

Our ASE 12.5.4 production server abruptly shutdown on its own, people at sybase asked us to run shared memory dump command

    1 - sp_configure "dump on conditions", 1

    2 - sp_shmdumpconfig 'add',signal, 11, 1, 'directory_name','file_name',include_page, include_proc.

Any side effects on dumping shared memory?.

Any idea why sybase server went down?.

    Thanks in advance.

There shouldnt be any side affects of doing a mem dump, but it does need a lot of space on the filesystem you are dumping to.

Without you pasting the errorlog we cannot say what has caused it.
