    Unanswered: Unexpected cryptographic error

    Hi,

Does anyone know why I would be getting this error in the db2diag.log dump file..?

    2007-12-27-03.44.44.039817+000 I240529E452 LEVEL: Error
    PID : 27796 TID : 47971749840176
FUNCTION: DB2 Common, Cryptography, cryptContextRealInit, probe:40
MESSAGE : ECF=0x90000403 Unexpected cryptographic error
    DATA #1 : Hex, 4 bytes
    0x4
    DATA #2 : Hex, 4 bytes
    0x0
    DATA #3 : Hex, 4 bytes
    0x0
    DATA #4 : String, 104 bytes
/home/db2inst1/sqllib/lib/icc/icclib/libicclib.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

What does cryptographic error mean? Thanks!

It is an "unexpected error". However, the DATA #4 tells you exactly what is wrong: DB2 can't find libicclib.so in your instance directory. Since sqllib/lib/ may point to the global DB2 installation (I don't know for sure because you didn't care to mention your platform), I guess that you have an incomplete DB2 installation. I would download the latest FixPak and apply that. Then make sure that libicclib is present under /opt/IBM/db2/... (or whereever you installed DB2).
