Unanswered: Listener won't start after 9i to 10g upgrade
On a windows 2000 box I have been running 9i for ages
I have installed 10g and I can't get the listener to start.
I have done exactly the same on 8 other servers now with no problem so I'm not sure why it's not working.
I have installed into a oracle new home, I have checked all the environment variables and none are pointing at the 9i home, I have set TNS_ADMIN to the 10g home but still doesn't work.
What is very strange is it is logging to the 9i directory but using the 10g listener.ora .... any ideas why this is?
I've got to get this working by tomorrow evening :o(
This is the error log :

I know for a fact that if you accept the common defaults (port=1521,etc.),
then no listener.ora file is required for a V10 instance.
I suggest that you rename all listener.ora file out of the way & try again.
IMO, it the V9 listener.log file is being updated, then the V9 listener is REALLY, REALLY the one being invoked.
HTH & YMMV!You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
