We used Time Machine on our Oracle 8i databases to be able to change the time on our test databases without changing the system time. This allows us to retest things that occurred in the past, and test using future dating. We are currently testing Oracle 10g, and discovered that the time gets off on each server when using time machine. Oracle claims there is no time tool for a RAC configuration. Oracle recommended changing the application, by creating a funtion that is called at every select sysdate from dual, which could modify the time. This type of change would be very costly because our application references sysdate from dual alot. Are there any other alternatives that would work in the environment I have described?
