    Unanswered: Table Data Type Problem

I'm having a problem with a data type in a table. It reads as number when it should be text. I am unable to change it because of set relationships, and when I delete the relationships it still doesn't allow me to change it. Any way I can fix this?

i suspect you are using the table design lookup "feature".

in a copy of your db, design view your table - select the field causing trouble then hit the Lookup tab: if the top line says ANYTHING except TextBox, change it to TextBox... all the other stuff on the Lookup tab should then disappear.

that should fix your posted problem but will probably have repercussions elsewhere in your db... that's why you did it on a copy of the db

next step: promise yourself you will never again use the lookup wizard in table design - forget you ever heard about the wretched thing. it's only purpose is to confuse you.

I agree. Not a good feature.
