Unanswered: Sybase 6 Character Encoding Problem (ODBC)

    hi,

i have opened a connection to a sybase 6 server using visual studio and ODBC drivers. The thing is i run all kind of queries, but SELECT queries only return characters that doesnt make sense. When i run the same queries in sybase central everything works fine. The strings are encoded in greek and i have already tried all greek ascii encodings (unicode and all utf also). So i was wondering if any1 knows whats wrong.

is it ODBC drivers? cause when i use MSaccess to connect i have the same problem. i connect through dsn by the way. Is there any special character encoding in sybase or is it that just microsoft odbc sucks at this database?

Although not the best solution i found a workaround. I translated all garbage characters into ones that make sense, by creating a simple function that replaces characters.
