    Unanswered: Cannot connect local database

    Hello,

    After restarting the machine, the sql 2000 won't start.

    - I'm using local (no domain)
    - administrator account
    - sql agent is started, but cannot connect

    a connection could not be establish to (local)
    please verify the sql server is running and check your...

    From which folder ?
    DOS says it's an unknown command (??)

    sqlcmd is for 2005 - it won't work.

    can you start it up in minimal mode (from command line)? Start from there.

    sqlservr.exe -f
