    Unanswered: Expressions

    Hello,

I am trying to join text in the first_name field with one in the last_name field. I keep receiving an error that says the database engine does not recognize my default value in the full_name field. I basically cannot figure out how to properly use expressions in access. I hope this is a simple enough problem with an equally simple solution such as "you forgot to type "x"..."

    first_name
    last_name
    full_name Default value: full_name: [first_name] & " " & [last_name]

    Thanks,

    Tim

    Hi Tim

Is this in the table design or is this a query?

    Easy. DON'T.

Only generate your Full Name calculated field in a query.

You CANNOT make calculations in a table.

    StarTrekker,

Thanks. I used a query and figured it out.
