Red face Unanswered: Error opening up microsoft sql enterprise manager

    Hi

I am getting an error when i try to open MSEM. I have also tried to open this via mmc and get the same.

I have an attached a screen shot of the error. I tried re-installing SP4, but this did not fix it. Please help. We need to move our SQL to a new server and since I can't see any of it, I can't really manage it before the move.

    I would appreciate any help.

    Thanks
    Jimmy

not sure if you can download them, sorry not experienced with sql server 7 (bit before my time )

But they should be on the disk that it was installed from, I would imagine that the installation has corrupted somehow, when I have similar problems with sql 2000 and EM a re-install normally does the trick

OK ... so the assumption is that they were working... then you did something ... then they didn't work anymore.

    What did you change?

Does the 2005 Mgmt Studio open SQL 7 like it opens SQL 2000? (I haven't used SQL7 in a loooong time so I have no idea)

Plus, if all you're doing is move databases, you could use a tool like Aqua Data Studio (or another 3rd party tool) and just do it all via query.
