    Exclamation Unanswered: Name Field Help!!!!!!!!

    Hi

I have set up a mail merge with loads of names in. When it comes to names such as James - it is incorrect. This is because it reads "James's coursework", when i want it to say "James' coursework". However, it needs to change so when David is merged, it reads "David's coursework".

Overall I nead a rule so that when the name ends in "s" it puts in an " ' " (apostrophe), but when the name doesn't end in "s", i want it to put in " 's ".

    Many Thanks

    David

    Code:
    If Right(firstname, 1) = "s" Then
        firstname & "'"
    Else
        firstname & "'s"
    End If

I am from the old school, but James's is correct. I know because my last name ends with an s.
    old, slow, and confused
    but at least I'm inconsistent!

Moved to Excel topic as per user request.
    Code:
    Iif(Right(A1, 1) = "s", A1 & "'", A1 & "'s")
    Wher A1 contains the name
