    Unanswered: Export Problem

    Hi,

    Can we take export of table created under extenally identified users in database using different userid in export statement ???

    SQL> show user
    USER is "OPS$ORACLE10G"
    SQL> select table_name, owner from dba_tables where table_name like 'ABC' ;

    TABLE_NAME OWNER
    ------------------------------ ------------------------------
    ABC OPS$ORACLE

    Tried to take export of table ABC using login oracle10g & export statment:
    exp userid=/ tables=abc file=1.dmp, got error -

    ==> exp userid=/ tables="OPS$ORACLE"."ABC" file=1.dmp

    Export: Release 10.2.0.3.0 - Production on Mon Mar 10 14:43:28 2008

    With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
    Export done in US7ASCII character set and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set
    server uses AL32UTF8 character set (possible charset conversion)

    About to export specified tables via Conventional Path ...
    EXP-00010: OPS is not a valid username
    Export terminated successfully with warnings.

    Any suggestions to achive this?

    I have a couple of comments about the posted problem & possible solution

    I would have used OWNER= parameter in addition to TABLES=

    In some Operating Systems the dollar sign character is a "metacharacter" on the command line & must be delimited when actually desired.

    Cool import and cleanup

    I have a 2 tables. One in production, the other in a archive.

    gid num
    grid num
    accid num
    date date null

    I need to update productions without creating dupes?
