Unanswered: Real Impact of MS Performance Counters

I have been collecting information about 20 performance counters (memory, IO, cpu, SQL) that refresh every 15 seconds, would that have any performance hit in the server? what are best practices when collecting information via performance counters?

    Thanks

The impact is that every 15 seconds you're issuing an implicit DBCC and performing an I/O while storing the results.

    Hi Carloarango,
One thing you can do is to make sure than you are NOT running the performance monitor and saving the couters on the TARGET server itself. Run the perfmon on a seperate network machine!
    Cheers!
