    Unanswered: UDB V9 Migration

    Hello-

Does any one migrate the database from V8.2 to V9.1

I Have got few questions about this process. Do i need to install
new V9.1 software for this effort and migrate the instance?

Does the compress feature in V9.1 needs a license or do use it for free.

    thanks

I did migrate my test databases from V8.2 to V9.1 to V9.5 over time. There is nothing special about it. You have to install the DB2 V9.1 (or V9.5) software, of course, then update the instance and then migrate the databases using the DB2 command MIGRATE.

p.s: Which "compress feature" are you referring to? And which edition of DB2 are you using?

Thanks for the response stolz and udb raja.

I was referring to the Data compression in db2 . I think this technique was
implemented as row compression and table compression.

I think it is free .

    thanks

    its not free

Not that this makes any sense IBM, but Row Compression will work without license but its still not technically free. To use it legally you do have to buy it as an addon license.

I don't think that is true for V9.5

    free

    EDIT

Row Compression is sold as "Storage Optimization Feature"

Backup Compression is free, has been a feature for a while.
