    Unanswered: Viewing db2detaildeadlock Output

When I try to view the *.evt file in $DBHOME/db2event/db2detaildeadlock it looks basically binary

Do I have to format this output in any way to be able to read it? I haven't found anything that says I have to.

Check out the db2evmon command as documented in the Command Reference manual.

Thank you, I mis-read everything and thought that was the utility to just create output, not to format and read output. Unfortunately the output that was there yesterday is gone this morning so I'll wait for another deadlock.

My core problem is the message in the db2diag.log "target type 0 failed to open DB2DETAILDEADLOCK with rc -2146631637" which everything I've read points to "SQL1617N The specified event monitor has already reached its MAXFILES and MAXFILESIZE limit".

So I'm thinking that the default deadlock monitor doesn't have enough MAXFILES (20 currently) and MAXFILESIZE (512 currently) allocated to it so I'd need to drop and re-create the event monitor with larger values to get it to work properly.

Thanks for the reply - I did too much Googling yesterday and not enough manual reading

Don't feel bad. I knew there was report format command (and have used it in the past), but it took me awhile to find it in the manual because it is not cross-referenced in the parts of the manual where it talks about setting up the event monitor.
