    Unanswered: Newbie SQL backup question

    Hi

    I am new to DB I have a back up db and i want to check to make sure i have the data in that db or not. How do i check? can i use query analyzer to pull up some specific data if i want. if yes how to do that?


    again i am a newbie i dont know a lot about db

    Restore the db in question to another database (with a different name) or to another environment (say dev or test). Then Query Analyzer away to validate data.

    You might even want to do a DBCC checkdb to ensure internal integrity.

    Hi

    again i am new to DB. I just install microsoft sql server 2003 standard edition. What are the steps i need to do?

    SQL 2000 or SQL 2005, perhaps you're getting confused with Windows 2003, eh ?

    if u have SQL 2000 installed in your machine..thn first restore the db and thn chk the data in it.
