Unanswered: Saving a file before deleting
I have a personnel table with all the details and 2 subforms.
When a person leaves I would like to append their record to a history_personnel table, then have their record deleted.
What direction should I go to get this done?
The table is in Access right? Not SQL Server or some other service based RDBMS?
Are you using linked tables, local tables or disconnected tables?
ur codings are working excelent.
Here is the layout
This is an Access Database, structure is frontend (forms) with linked tables (Backend). Database is located on a server that acts as a shared file drive.
I wouldn't do it tbh. Filling in their
Date of Departure field should be enough.
Otherwise, to make the archive complete, you'd have to have history_* tables for everything related to personnel and move that data as well, with a string of APPEND and DELETE queries executed in the right order.
Sounds like you're making things hard for yourself.
