    Unanswered: roll forward question

    Hi All,

    I am working with db2 v8.2.6 and aix 5.2

    I have a online backup image from production and I want to transfer the file to another sever and restore to database by the end of backup. my question is: do I still need to transfer the logs to another box or it does not ?

    for rolling forward I need to use "to end of log and stop" or just

    db2 rolling forward db xxxx stop;

    please help me.

    notice;

    I am not alowed to use "include log " option and I use db2 v8 not v9 to use "to end of backup"

    Yes you do need logs when you are restoring online backup.
    Also if you mentioned your version right , your version does allow include logs.
    You can use option from 8.1 fixpack7 which is 8.2

    Good Luck

    Thank you Koganti,

    I do not have permission to change the backup script on production for using the "include logs"

    you mean I should transfer logs to other server as well and run

    db2 roll forward .......by the end of logs and stop
