    Unanswered: Grouping and sorting

    Hi there,

I am facing problems with grouping the fields in access query.

I have a list of employees under category 'A' and 'D'. I need to do an alpha sort for employee names under each category separately, i.e for category 'A' I need to list employees in alphabetical order and category 'D' I have to do the same.

I have many other fields like employee nos. etc to be retrieved from the same query.

I searched for tips on google but couldn't figure out what to do.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Sowmya

Group by Category, Sort by Employee name.

In the Sorting and Grouping dialog for the report, put Category first, then give it a group header or group footer (or both). Under that, in the same dialog, a line for your Employee Name, that doesn't have a group header or group footer.

    You're welcome

Play around with the Sorting and Grouping options and do a bit of reading about it, it should become clear as to how this works

    Cheers
