    Unanswered: REMOTE connection with ORACLE Database server

    Hello Friends,

    I am using Oracle as the database server and .Net as the programming language. I want to establish the remote connection with oracle database server and my connection string look like this: -

    Server=myServerName; Data Source=MyDataSource ;User Id= myUserName ;Password= myPassword

    Is Oracle client is required in the client side which I supposed is not the solution in this case.

    My tnsnames.ora contains

    dg4odbc =
    (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=dg20)(PORT=1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=dg4odbc))
    (HS=OK)
    )

    Is tnsnames.ora needs to be configured or any possible solution

    Please suggest.

    Thanks in advance .

    Yes Oracle client is required (Do not use the WinDoze MS Oracle driver).

    You need the tnsnames.ora file configured.
    you need to create ODBC connection with Oracle driver.
