    Unanswered: BCP out performance question

    1. -b option seems have no effect to bcp out from a table. no matter how large i set (e.g -b 10000) but it still bcp out in 1000 row.. is it?

    2. btw. any bcp option or parameters or any ways to speed up bcp out performance

    thx...

    bcp out performance

    Hi,
the -b option works when you try to insert data and not whilst you extract data out of a table.

Having a large large pool will significantly improve the performance of bcp as there will be less I/Os needed to bring the data out. You may actually give the "large pool" the maximum you can before the bcp and then reduce the large pool size later, for example for a 2K page DB, the 16K pool should be given a big chunk of the default data cache, to make bcp out faster.

    good luck

    bcp out performance

Are you an end user or a DBA, if u are a DBA then i suggest you read the Sybase documentation about large pools etc, if you are an end user, dont worry about tuning the sybase server, it is above and beyond your scope.
