Unanswered: move some table data from one database to another database

    Hi,
There are two database A and B under one instance.
I want to insert some records of one table from database A to table of database B.

    Whats the appropriate way?
    Is there any direct way?

And if databases are under different instances then what will be the way?

    Please reply ASAP

    Thanks & Regards
    Pawan

The best way of doing this is using federation. Federation can be used between databases in the same instance, between databases in different instances, between databases in different servers, between databases in different operating systems. For example we used to use federation between DB2/Windows/Intel and DB2/VSE/mainframe_Zserver for many years...

Try reading something like this: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/db...06purnell.html

By the way, federating server is already included in DB2 so no extra costs.

    Hope this helps,
