    Unanswered: Rename Table Problem

    Hi all,
I am trying to rename a table and the following error does not let me rename it.

    db2 "RENAME TABLE DB2DB.TABLE_A TO TABLE_B"
DB21034E The command was processed as an SQL statement because it was not a valid Command Line Processor command. During SQL processing it returned:
SQL0911N The current transaction has been rolled back because of a deadlock
or timeout. Reason code "68". SQLSTATE=40001.

The table does not have any dependent objects to it.I captured the snapshot of the ID holding the lock and is attached below.

    Any advise is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks all.

You are getting a lock timeout error. Someone is holding a lock that the rename need to make. Have the offending user holding the lock either commit or rollback before issuing the rename.

    Andy,
we stop all our applications during change window and there were no connections to the database during that period. The snapshot information provided has db2look as the application name.

    DUOW correlation token = *LOCAL.db2id.080527190449
    Application name = db2look
    Application ID = *LOCAL.db2id.080527190449

Obviously db2look is running locally while you are trying to rename the table. It needs to finish up and commit before you can do the rename.
