    Unanswered: Table Normalizing

Creating a new DB to track students. I created a Table with like 25 fields for personnal information etc. I also created a Table with 20 fields to track scores for events with a one to one relationship.

Question is should I keep the tables split with a one to one or should I just throw them all into one table?

There will be 7000 students per year.

Personally speaking keep the tables split for now. You will probably find more uses later for the scores table. One suggestion might be to redefine the scores table to have only 3 columns (Student, event, score). The student table would then link to the scores table with a one-to-many.

    Good luck.

PS: If you're going to keep this for years, a year column in both would allow you to keep them ad infinitum.

    Keeping them split

I think I will keep them split so I don't have to search through all the fields to find something, splitting will allow me to grow.

    Thanks
