    Unanswered: Urgent!!!: Not able to connect to database

    Hi,
    I have two instances on a server. & Two "DLMD_DB" databases on these instances.

    Each instance has their own database "DLMD_DB". One instance already have connection with its "DLMD_DB". Both databases are on different paths. ("List db directory" shows their different paths).

    But why It is not allowing to connect to database in second instance.

    db2 connect to DLMD_DB
    SQL1391N The database is already in use by another instance of the database
    manager. SQLSTATE=51023

    Could you please show us the necessary details that you briefly glanced over (DB directory listings, which user attempts which commands, ...)

    Also, you didn't provide the basic information about which DB2 version you are running on which platform.

    i am using "DB2 v8.1.1.120". running on AIX 5.3.0.0 platform.

    Please find following details:
    $ db2 list db directory

    Database 1 entry:

    Database alias = DLMD_DB
    Database name = DLMD_DB
    Local database directory = /pkg/LBCS/LBCS0911/projekte/dlmd/dblma200
    Database release level = a.00
    Comment =
    Directory entry type = Indirect
    Catalog database partition number = 0
    Alternate server hostname =
    Alternate server port number =

    $ db2 list applications
    SQL1611W No data was returned by Database System Monitor. SQLSTATE=00000

    $ db2 get instance

    The current database manager instance is: dblma200

    $ su - dblma100
    $ db2 list db directory

    Database 1 entry:

    Database alias = DLMD_DB
    Database name = DLMD_DB
    Local database directory = /pkg/LBCS/LBCS0911/projekte/dlmd
    Database release level = a.00
    Comment =
    Directory entry type = Indirect
    Catalog database partition number = 0
    Alternate server hostname =
    Alternate server port number =

    $ db2 get instance

    The current database manager instance is: dblma100

    $ db2 list applications

    That looks very much suspicious:
    /pkg/LBCS/LBCS0911/projekte/dlmd/dblma200
    vs.
    /pkg/LBCS/LBCS0911/projekte/dlmd
    I wouldn't put one database directory as subdirectory under another - only parallel. So I'd say that DB2 is right to complain...

    What would be the solution now?
    can i change the db path "/pkg/LBCS/LBCS0911/projekte/dlmd" to "/pkg/LBCS/LBCS0911/projekte/dlmd/XXXX/" ?

    I dont want to drop & recreate the db on other path.
    Will it possible now?

    Maybe db2relocatedb can help you there. When doing that, you should make sure that none of the two instances is started...
