Unanswered: DB2v9.5 64-bit does not allow me to chose location of user tablespaces. Do you know?

    Hi all,
We install DBv9.5 64-bit on a Linux server. While creating user tablespaces (e.g., TS0004k regular) we find that DB2 control center does not allow us to add the container location for the tablespace. DB2 automatically assigns a location which happens to be the same path as the database path. Obviously, this is not acceptable.

Has any experienced this situation? What was the solution?

    Thanks

as indicated in ittoolbox : containers are for dms tablespaces
for sms you can only specify a path (any path)

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.

DB2 V9.5 as default uses DMS with automatic storage. This type of storage is defined at database level. So see "create database" command sintax.

DB2 is not allowing me to specify the path...that is the question...whether it is DMS or SMS?

DMS/SMS does not matter. You should be able to tell DB2 where to park the data. After that, DB2 manages it for SMA and you manages it for DMS. Do you agree?

The answer has already been given to you: if you want to control storage paths, don't use automatic storage for the tablespace.
