Unanswered: Last two bytes in timestamptz

    Hi,

how to calculate last two bytes in timestamptz?

    Byte Represents
    0 Century (119 for 1990)
    1 Decade (190 for 1990)
    2 Month
    3 Day
    4 Hour
    5 Minute
    6 Seconds
    7 Nanoseconds (Most Significant bit)
    8 Nanoseconds
    9 Nanoseconds
    10 Nanoseconds (Least Significant Bit)
11,12 Region id or Timezone Hour/Minute
how to calculate 11. and 12. bytes, which represent region id? I know how to calcluate if offset is represented by number(+01:00), but I don't know how if it is stored as "Europe/Prague"

    thx for any comments

    Question

    Code:
    SELECT TO_TIMESTAMP_TZ('1999-12-01 11:00:00 -8:00',
       'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MI:SS TZH:TZM') FROM DUAL;

    TO_TIMESTAMP_TZ('1999-12-0111:00:00-08:00','YYYY-MM-DDHH:MI:SSTZH:TZM')
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    01-DEC-99 11.00.00.000000000 AM -08:00

Rhetorical question - Other than via SQL how would Java access the TIMESTAMPTZ field; last two bytes not considered.
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
