    Unanswered: Error when installing sybase

    Hi all,
I am trying to install sybase 12.5.4 32 bit on Redhat AS 4.0 Update 6 on
    Linux
    2.6.9-67.0.15.ELsmp #1 SMP Tue Apr 22 13:58:43 EDT 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The installation goes through till the point where i need to configure the dataserver.
this is the error msg i received
    Server 'SINDACS' was not created.
/software/sybase/ASE-12_5/bin/dataserver: error while loading shared libraries:
libpam.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    The file do exist.

Anyone can guide me on this?

Looks like you may be missing LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
Look for a SYBASE.sh / SYBASE.csh and source it or just include the path wherever the so path is. You need ASE-12_5/lib and OCS-12_5/lib in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH
