    Unanswered: scripting recovery redo logs after normal restore

    Hello,

    Having restored an online backup, I need to apply a huge number of redo log file. I woud like to run the recovery of the redo logs in the background after which I can shut my desktop and my session. How can I put this into a script, that runs the command and fills in AUTO?

    SQL>recover database using backup controlfile until cancel;
    AUTO

    What is wrong with simply doing it in a separate Frame & minimizing that Window?

    Well, I am applying a huge number and I want to go home at end of working day, company policy prohibits leaving laptop at the desk. We don't use desktops.

    Wink nohup

    What prevents you to put those statements in an sql file and execute with nohup?
    Code:
     nohup sqlplus '/as sysdba' @Reco.sql

    What prevents him most likely is that the PC is running Windoze!
    Most folks don't run *nix on their desktop.
    (unlike me who is running Ubuntu!)

    Talking On what OS is DB?

    I assumed he was using the WinDoze pc to establish a connection to some *nix box where he can create the script and execute with nohup.

    Other wise if the DB is on WinDoze, he could also create the script on the DB box create a batch file with the command and execute with the scheduler.
